Michael Berman is a photographer and filmmaker based in New York. As a photographer, he has worked for numerous publications, businesses, and non-profits, including the New York Times, American Express, PNC Bank, and Citymeals on Wheels. Michael’s primary focus as a photographer is on people and their environments. As a filmmaker, Michael is in the midst of a multi-year project that interweaves the stories and thoughts of dozens of people that he photographed as strangers on the streets of New York in 1999.
Michael has exhibited his street photography in numerous group and solo shows in galleries and public spaces, and has received two project-based photography grants from the New York State Council on the Arts. He has photographed for two published books: The Ramen Noodle Cookbook (DK Publishing, 2015) and The Little Bookroom Guide to New York City with Children (Little Bookroom, 2014).
